Communications Associate

The Communications Associate is part time salaried position working 25 hours per week.  This role will primarily focus on promoting and sharing information on Highland Christian Center ministries, updates and events.  The primary workload consists of graphic design, photography, and videography. There is opportunity to work with recurring projects as well as providing support for special events promotion as needed.  Additional projects or creative design may be available depending on experience level.  The Communications Associate role is a salaried position/nonexempt position and will be supervised by the Communications Director.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for graphics design, to include all church graphics for social media and the website, designing and creating posters, flyers, monthly bulletins, direct mail promos, booklets, banners, quarterly newsletters, cards, and advertisements.
  • Ensure consistent branding of graphic design across social media and the church website.
  • Responsible for designing thematic church graphic branding for all products produced.
  • Responsible for all church photography, including photos for worship services, events, and major church events.
  • Responsible for all church videography, including creating/filming Bible studies, weekly announcements, promotion of sermon series and special events.
  • Responsible for uploading weekly sermon on the church’s YouTube channel and website, while creating, categorizing, and uploading links for archived sermons on the church website.
  • Responsible for streaming and information technology, to include weekly streaming of sermons on the church website, Fb, and YouTube (when possible), ensuring the latest technology and equipment is used to produce high quality online worship experiences and recordings weekly, including special holiday services and special events/services, as requested by leadership.

 

  • Develop and deliver annual church meeting presentation(s) in coordination with the Communication Director and the Executive Pastor.
  • Work under the supervision of the Communications Director. Manage all Communication Requests with the Communication Director, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of requested products.
  • Duties include videography and photography for weekend worship experiences, including special holiday services and weekends, as well as other possible events outside of normal working hours as requested by leadership.
  • Complete other additional and relative communication associate tasks as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years of age with High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Has extensive knowledge of all areas related to graphic design, photography, and videography.
  • Demonstrates strong customer service, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to complete, edit assigned tasks and/or publications.
  • Strong Microsoft Word skills and Adobe InDesign. Familiarity with graphic design tools (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Canva, Publisher, etc).
  • Willingness to learn & utilize church office/project tracking system (s).
  • Ability to collaborate with ministry leaders and to form strong relationships on staff.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Displays excellent leadership and effective management and communication skill.

Education and Experience:

  • College coursework or bachelor’s degree preferred in communications, journalism, information management and technology.
  • Experience working on a communications and design for at least two to five years.

Work Environment:

  • Work 25 hours between 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Monday through Friday, although longer hours may be required when facing deadlines.
